Our ongoing material development programs at Hyperion Research and Development focus on providing can
makers with superior products of consistent quality in different grades to perfectly fit the application.
An example of this is the development of the application specific carbide grade DZ18. Our experts created low density carbide grade DZ18 that allows customers to reduce the time required for bodymaker swings by up to 98 percent, taking the time from 12 hours to as little as 15 minutes – assuming punch and other bodymaker tools’ designs are optimized.

We are committed to increasing the percentage of recycled raw materials in our products. Our tungsten carbide recycling program allows us to capture tungsten carbide and cobalt throughout the production process. To date we have not captured carbon footprint calculations by product, but the figures below represent the percentage of recycled content by material:
